Intership Opportunity

Texas Beef Council is seeking paid interns to work Texas State Fair Sept. 25-Oct. 18. Candidates must be able to commit to at least one week of work.    Please help us spread the word by sharing this posting with your students or anyone else who would be interested in helping promote beef during the State Fair.   Texas Beef Council will cover travel expenses for those who live outside of the DFW area.

Texas Beef Council – Event Marketing Intern

Position Description

Texas Beef Council (TBC) is seeking temporary help at the upcoming State Fair of Texas, Sept. 25th -Oct. 18th.    TBC will have a booth in the Food and Fiber Pavilion which will be open to the public 10:00 am-8:00 pm each day.  TBC’s goal is to educate the public about beef’s nutrition and offer cooking inspiration and how-to guides.

The primary function of the temporary staff will be to assist Texas Beef Council’s on-site Event Manager in:

   • Promoting Beef by engaging fair goers and offering recipes/nutritional information
   • Managing promotional games offered within the Texas Beef Council area
   • Addressing questions and concerns from consumers and cattle producers
   • Keeping area clean, safe and presentable

Successful candidates will have:

   • Excellent verbal communication skills
   • An interest in agriculture communication and/or advertising and marketing
   • Be available to work a minimum 8 hour shifts during at least one week of the fair

Physical requirements include ability to:

   • Stand for long periods of time
   • Lift up to 40 pounds
   • Speak for long periods of time
   • Bend down to restock materials and assist with promotional games

Must be able to attend scheduled training session, date TBD.   Compensation is $15 an hour.  Qualified candidates must complete questionnaire by August 16th, 2015.
